Every business or artisan, no matter how small, deserves a high quality web site. You pour your heart and soul into your business. Make sure you find a print and web designer that will do the same for you.

I differentiate myself from the rest of the crowd by putting real world needs into all my designs. So often, in the chase for the latest and greatest thing, the core goal is forgotten: to tell the public who you are and what you do, as fast and as clearly as possible. To make it obvious why they should choose you, select your product, use your service, buy your art.

The reported average amount of time a user spends on a website is 56 seconds. That’s less than a minute to demonstrate to the user what your site is about, show them enough so that they know they’re in the right place, and convince them that your business or service or information is what they’re looking for. With less than a minute, you do not have the luxury of wasted space or frivolous features.

A poor quality website or sloppy print design can do more damage to your business than no website or print pieces at all.

I began Square Leaf Designs officially in 2003, though I started working with web design and html in 1995. My first project, in an era before the web even had much in the way of graphics, was converting a 1200 page operations manual for a large library on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus from a print version to the web.  This gave me a very solid foundation in html and its strengths and weaknesses.

I added print design to my portfolio in 2000, while working at the Dane County Humane Society, and being responsible for bringing the majority of the design of fundraising pieces in-house, saving the Humane Society a great deal of money.

I continue to grow my portfolio by staying current on technologies like PHP and HTML5. My newest project is learning mobile application development. Always keeping the eye on the goal: to give the customer what they need, to make it easy to understand, to make the internet serve the needs of the customer.

My services include technologies like css, javascript, osCommerce, ZenCart and WordPress in addition to all facets of graphic design.  If you are interested in finding out more, please email me.
